#InstameetChatt – May 2015

On May 10th 2015 about 30ish people came together for a photo walk through downtown Chattanooga. Before the event, many of them were strangers, but by the end, a strong foundation for community was laid.

About two-thirds of the entire group before we went downtown (sorry for the low quality, this was taken on a phone)

I had the privileged of hosting my second Instagram meet in Chattanooga Tennessee. It’s amazing to have the opportunity to foster a safe environment for locals and visitors to build community around the simple act of taking photos. We walked from Ross’s landing, to the Tennessee Aquarium, to a park garage that overlooked the city, and ended at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

If you’ve never attended an instameet, it just a new name for an old fashion photo walk. Typically a central meeting place and time is set by the organizer and advertised on large social networks. Sometimes a set route is planned, other times it is a free for all. I encourage you to seek out accounts in your city and attend an instameet sometime. Let me know which ones you plan on going to and maybe I’ll come too!

Here are a few of the photos I got-

My favorite photo from the meet. One of those moments when everyone and everything seemed to come together just right.

Arguably my favorite photo from the meet. One of those moments when everyone and everything seemed to come together just right.

If you would like to view the rest of the photos taken at our May Chattanooga instameet, look through #instameetChatt.

I really hope this post helps convince you to attend the next meet (probably in July/August). Please feel free to direct message me on instagram (@_rachaelcrowe) or visit the contact page here on this blog if you’d like more info!
